01 — Overview

DocAdvisor is a doctor review platform built for Bangladesh — a space where patients can find trustworthy doctors through transparent, community-powered ratings.

The idea is simple: in a country with no reliable public record of doctors, patients deserve a transparent way to find the right one. Think of it as the place where you find "the doctor your neighbour would send their mother to."

This is a personal side project — the kind that lives rent-free in your head until a long holiday finally clears the calendar. The Eid vacation gave me the time to build it properly. Before a single screen was designed, I needed to get the brand identity right. And that always starts with the logo.

02 — Brief

Two worlds, one mark

DocAdvisor sits at the intersection of two domains with very distinct visual languages. The first question I asked myself was: what does this logo need to say in a single glance?

Healthcare → the medical plus (+)

Universally understood, clinically credible, and instantly communicates the doctor-patient context. The plus sign carries centuries of visual weight in healthcare.

Reviews → the chat bubble

Community feedback, peer-to-peer trust, conversation. The speech bubble is the native icon of the review and social graph era — it signals "real people said this."

The constraint: one mark, two meanings

The challenge was combining both symbols so the result feels intentional and minimal — not like two icons that accidentally collided. One form had to carry both ideas without visual compromise.

03 — Process

From AI sketch to finished mark

The process had three phases: rapid AI-assisted concept exploration to map the territory fast, followed by manual iteration to bring precision, then a final refinement pass to close the gap between "good enough" and "done."

Step 01
AI-assisted exploration with Gemini

Rather than starting from a blank canvas, I used Gemini to explore the visual territory quickly. Before prompting, I defined the hard constraints: emerald green (#059669), flat vector with no gradients, and a mark that would survive at app-icon scale.

I spent time crafting deliberate prompts rather than describing vaguely and hoping. Two prompts got me to a usable starting point.

Prompt 1
A modern minimalist logo for "DocAdvisor", a doctor review platform. The wordmark uses a clean sans-serif font in deep emerald green (#059669). Integrated into the letter "D" or "A" is a subtle abstract symbol combining a medical cross or stethoscope with a five-star rating or upward checkmark — rendered as a simple single-line icon. No gradients, no shadows, flat 2D design. White background. Professional, trustworthy, clinical-but-approachable feel. Suitable for a healthcare transparency app in Bangladesh.
Prompt 2
Dribbble shot style logo design for "DocAdvisor", a modern healthcare review platform. Clean wordmark in a geometric sans-serif typeface. A minimal icon mark combining a abstract stethoscope curve and a subtle upward arrow or checkmark, constructed from 2–3 simple geometric shapes only. Emerald green (#059669) as the primary color with crisp white negative space. Flat vector, pixel-perfect, no gradients, no drop shadows, no textures. Generous white padding around the lockup. The icon sits left of the wordmark. Overall feel: Stripe-level polish, Health-tech SaaS, trustworthy, modern, 2024 brand identity. Presented as a clean logo sheet on white background.

AI generation is excellent for rapid concept exploration — 10 visual directions in the time it takes to sketch one. But the proportions were off, nothing scaled cleanly to small sizes, and the marks felt unfinished. A useful starting point, not an endpoint.

Step 02
Manual iteration: refining the icon mark

I settled on the chat-bubble + medical-plus concept and started iterating by hand. Three rounds of iteration, each tightening the proportions, adjusting the tail geometry, and testing the mark at 24px before committing to a direction.

Iteration 1 — bubble shape and tail position
Iteration 1.1 — chat bubble with plus
1.1 — Rounded rectangle bubble, centred plus.
Iteration 1.2 — refined proportions
1.2 — Tighter corner radius, re-weighted plus arms.
Iteration 2 — exploring alternative forms
Iteration 2.1 — D letterform with chat window
2.1 — "D" letterform open as a window frame.
Iteration 2.2 — D ring with bubble cutout
2.2 — D-ring with a chat bubble punched through.
Iteration 3 — returning to the bubble
Iteration 3 — refined chat bubble with integrated D
3 — Simplified bubble + "D" form, tail refined.
04 — Identity

One color. One form. Two meanings.

After three rounds of iteration, the solution resolved itself. A rounded-rectangle chat bubble with a small, proportional tail at the bottom-left. Centered inside: a bold medical plus sign rendered as a white negative-space cutout — not an overlaid element, but a hole punched through the shape.

One color. One form. Two meanings. The mark reads instantly as both "doctor" and "conversation" — healthcare transparency made tangible in a single glyph.

The wordmark uses a geometric sans-serif set in the same deep emerald (#059669), carrying the same sense of precision and approachability as the icon.
